Apparently I am turning into a Bear

Yea so apparently I am turning into a bear getting ready to go into hibernation! No matter how much I eat I am not getting full but that has mostly been this week.  The week of the race went pretty well.  It  is so crazy!  The temperatures have gotten cooler so I think my body is going into winter mode.  Trying to store up fat or something.  I have no clue.

Anyways I ran the race in 38 minutes and 41 seconds.  We had a great time!  I have a great story to share about the race which you will find below ...

Seeing as most of you know me then you know how much I love hockey!  I am a huge Penguins fan but I also support the Hurricanes for a few reasons.  First because they are our home state team and second because if they go away then we don't have anywhere close to go see the Penguins play.  So when I found out that I could combine my love of Hockey, support a good cause (Kids-N-Community), and run my September 5K, I was super excited.  I registered right away and started planning with Chad about all the fun we were going to have.  The time until the race went by like lightening and to be prepared to leave at 6:15am Sunday for our almost 2 hour trek to the PNC Arena where the event was being held I worked Saturday night to lay out everything that I needed for the day.  At least I thought I had.
It was just as we were approaching the 40/85 split just east of Mebane that I realized I had gone off and left my Race Bib with my timer in it at the house.  I was distraught to say the least!  I was already upset and then came the completely stopped traffic due to construction.  We decided that we were still going to go because they were going to have bounce houses and fun stuff for the kids.  We got around the traffic and ended up arriving around 8:30.  Opening ceremonies were going to start at 8:45 so I had very little time to ask them if they could give me a new bib since I left mine and get ready for the run.  I really didn't want to miss the opening ceremonies because they were going to have members of the Canes on hand.  They were very understanding and gave me a new bib.  I went from #368 to #580. I took off to the restroom to get my bib pinned on.  Here is where it gets good! In my hurry to get back to Chad and the girls and not miss the opening ceremonies I accidentally took the wrong door to get back outside. I didn't really think about it that much because I was focused on getting outside so I could see them introduce the Hurricanes that were going to be there for the day.  Everyone was wearing the grey t-shirts from the race but they were all standing around in the hallway so it was pretty packed.  So I proceeded to bust my way through saying sorry, pardon, and excuse me (I do have manners). I was about 1/2 way through this group of guys when I heard what was clearly a conversation being had in what I am pretty sure was Russian.  That's when I slowed my roll and looked around to see that I just busted right up in the middle of all of the Carolina Hurricanes Players (later I would find out that 30 had showed up) that were waiting to go out on to the stage outside.  I just kept on going trying not to let on that I realized what I had just done.  I got outside and I told Chad who was like really why didn't you say hey or something.  They say hind sight is 20/20 and looking back I probably could have said "Oh I am so sorry I went the wrong way" and met some of them but I didn't and I can't change that now.  So that is my interesting story for today!  ... Probably most interesting to me but I had to share!

As far as food and weight loss goes I am going to start back this week on working out and trying to follow my weight watchers.  I need to lose the 5 lbs that I have gained back plus the rest of the weight I wanted to lose to start with.  I need help finding my motivation to get to my goal.  I am losing my motivation so fast.

And yes Nicole we do need to put some 5K pictures on here!  :)  I will get to work on that ASAP!

Here is to a good week!  Nicole you can do it and so can I!  We just have to be here for each other!

Starving...

So today is Day 3 of my new stricter diet.  Sorry, "lifestyle".  And I'm starving. Like I am hungry all of the time, but I can't eat anything, cause you know, trying to lose weight.  So what is the key?  Is it increasing my exercise so that I can eat more???  So I'm feeling like I can't take another moment and I start eating grapes and strawberries and I am like so frustrated!!  I mean, why is it so hard to get to my goal weight?  Am I asking too much?  Gah!  And all I want is something sinful and delicious.  I know I just have to stay the course and I am going to, but I mean seriously!!  HUNGRY ALL THE TIME :(

Back in the saddle

So it's back to hardcore for both Hollie and I it seems.  I have decided to take on a new challenge and really push myself further than I have before.  I have been looking at other "lifestyle" options besides Weight Watchers, but let's be honest, they are DIETS.  I can't see myself not eating cheese for the rest of my life!  I can't see myself not eating black beans for the rest of my life!  I just don't know.  I am currently struggling with how to kick it up a notch, but this is too much!  So I am going to see what all I can find out and try to compose a plan that uses WW as a baseline and maybe just goes a little more intense than the standard.  CUT OUT CARBS?????  I guess that's a good place to start, but I am not giving up wine...i don't think...i don't know!  Hopefully the exercise plan that I am pulling from will help push me to my goal weight.  Hollie and I have been trying to run a 5K every month, and Hollie has been great at that.  I have gone to a few and both of us are doing one on our own in  September.

Hey Hollie:  We should post some of our 5K pics on here!

We have both taken to running.  I need to try to run a full 3 miles.  That's my next goal.  Hopefully I can get there before the end of the month.  I guess when you have a weight problem you have to put yourself in training mode like ALL of the TIME???  I went slack for one week and I gained like 5LBS!  I couldn't believe it!  So that is why I have decided to go hardcore.  So here I go: wish me luck :)

I am back and I am hoping Nicole will join me!

Today I worked out pretty hard.  It will be my hard day this week because I am doing a 5K which I plan to run as much of as I can.  It will be hard as I haven't been running like I should. I have been too sporadic and not dedicated like I should have been.  I also have a 2nd goal that this training will help me reach my goal weight to get the discount on my health insurance!  I have to lose 8 lbs by the 25th of the month!  I know I can do it by going hard at it but I just gotta DO IT!

I am still doing weight watchers. No special food or anything just fruits and veggies and lots of water. I kinda suck at tracking my food.  I gotta get better at that.

Today's work out was one I just made up on my own.  I am going to make up my own running plan and of course get my friend Amanda to review it and see what she thinks.  I also went online and found quite a few that I think have inspired my new program.

Color Me Rad

No comments on how much we totally suck at this blogging thing!

ANY Who!  Color Me Rad came and went and it was AWESOME!!!!

Totally the best 5K we have done!

It also inspired us to shoot for doing a 5K a month for 2013 and maybe even 2014 as well.

We are hoping to do a lot of them together but we might have to do some on our own!

BUT back to Color Me Rad and how awesome it was!

We didn't time ourselves but we did take pictures right before we started (9:21) and right after (10:03) and we know there was a few minutes in between actual start and finish so it looks like we came in around 38-39 minutes which was under our goal!  We took lots of pictures so check them out!

Pre Run!!!

Post Run!!!
